Ed’s Note (Oct ’24)

Polio can be eradicated in our lifetime. It’s not just a possibility—it’s a promise we must fulfill.

As Rotaractors, we stand at the forefront of a historic moment where we can help eliminate one of the world’s most crippling diseases. October 24, World Polio Day, is our reminder that the fight to End Polio Now continues. Despite incredible progress, polio still threatens the health of children in the remaining endemic regions. This is the moment to rally our strength, raise awareness, and contribute to the global push for polio eradication. Let’s take action, because every step we take brings us closer to a world where no child lives in fear of this disease.

At the same time, this month’s theme of Community Economic Development highlights our responsibility to create sustainable opportunities for those we serve. Strengthening the economic foundation of a community is key to long-term resilience. As Rotaractors, we have the power to support local businesses, promote entrepreneurship, and provide tools for financial literacy that can uplift entire families. When communities thrive economically, they are better equipped to address health crises, education needs, and social challenges.

Together, through service and dedication, we can not only end polio but also help build a world where every community has the chance to prosper.
