In the heart of the Filipino spirit lies a profound belief: that education is not just an individual pursuit but a collective responsibility. In a world where education can shape destinies, the Rotaract Club of Midsayap is lighting the way for young learners through its transformative initiative, BULIG EDUKASYON YEAR 2. Bulig Edukasyon, from the Cebuano and Hiligaynon word “bulig” (help) and “edukasyon” (education), is a powerful journey of learning with fun.
As the final session unfolded on August 31, 2024 at Sadaan Elementary School, the air buzzed with a mix of excitement and determination. This community-driven project not only targeted the academic needs of slow learners but also nurtured their creativity and confidence, proving that learning can be a joyous journey.
A Journey of Learning and Growth
The “BULIG EDUKASYON” project commenced on August 17, 2024, with its first session, followed by a second session on August 24. Each gathering aimed to provide personalized tutoring in English and Mathematics to students from Grades 1 to 6, identified as needing additional support through comprehensive assessments. The pre-test evaluations included the Rapid Math Assessment (RMA) and the Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment (CRLA) for Grades 1-3, and the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (PHIL-IRI) for Grades 4-6. This tailored approach ensured that the tutoring sessions addressed the specific learning needs of over 50 students, fostering a more conducive environment for academic growth.
Integrating Creativity and Fun
In conjunction with the core educational objectives, the event also featured Project Krayola Year 3, an engaging initiative that blended storytelling, drawing, and parlor games. Facilitated through the Midsayap Municipal Library, Project Krayola added a dynamic layer to the educational experience, making learning both enjoyable and interactive. Children were not only encouraged to enhance their literacy and numeracy skills but also to express themselves creatively, forging a deeper connection with the material.
Collaboration for a Common Cause
The success of “BULIG EDUKASYON YEAR 2” was made possible through collaborative efforts among various organizations, including the Rotary Club of Midsayap, Notre Dame of Midsayap College – Supreme Student Government (NDMC-SSG), NDMC – Math Zero Phobia, and the Southern Christian College- Institutionalized English Language Society. With the dynamic and committed support of Sadaan ES’s Principal Cecile D. Sembrano and Midsayap South District Principal-In-Charge Ma. Vilma Q. Esteban, the power of community engagement demonstrated that collective efforts can lead to significant educational outcomes.
A Lasting Impact
As the final session wrapped up, the Rotaract Club of Midsayap reflected on the positive impact of their initiative. The meticulous planning and hands-on execution of the program not only provided essential academic support but also instilled a sense of confidence and enthusiasm in the participating students. The skills and knowledge gained during these sessions are expected to resonate well beyond the classroom, inspiring the young learners to continue their educational journeys with renewed vigor.
As the curtains closed on “BULIG EDUKASYON YEAR 2,” the Rotaract Club of Midsayap leaves behind more than just a series of successful tutoring sessions; they leave a legacy of hope and empowerment. The smiles of the pupils, the laughter echoing through the classrooms, and the newfound enthusiasm for learning are testaments to the profound impact of community collaboration. With every child inspired to dream bigger and learn bolder, the club reaffirms its commitment to education, proving that together, we can cultivate a brighter future for our youth.
