The Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod continues to redefine sustainability through its evolving initiative, Trash to Bank—a program that transforms everyday waste into meaningful community impact. What began as a simple recycling effort has grown into a multi-dimensional platform that integrates environmental responsibility, financial empowerment, and service.
In partnership with Basic Environmental Systems & Technologies (BEST) Inc., the project utilizes a waste-toreward system where recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, cartons, and tin cans are converted into points through the Trash to Cashback Program.

These points are then redeemed for essential goods, creating a practical and accessible incentive for sustainable habits. To strengthen participation, the club established a designated drop-off and sorting area, encouraging members to practice proper waste segregation while contributing to a shared cause.
Beyond environmental impact, the initiative has also supported members by helping subsidize district and Rotary International dues—demonstrating how sustainability can extend into financial inclusivity within the organization. As the project progressed into its succeeding phases, its reach expanded beyond the club.

Collected recyclables were transformed into tangible assistance, including the donation of milk supplies to beneficiaries, reinforcing the program’s communitycentered purpose. More than a recycling campaign, Trash to Bank reflects a forward-thinking approach to service—one that recognizes the value in small, consistent actions.
By turning waste into opportunity, the Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod continues to demonstrate that sustainable practices, when driven by purpose and collaboration, can create lasting and meaningful change.
