After an incredible journey over the past few years, the MAMAbile initiative made a comeback during International Women’s Month. It is a community project that aims to raise awareness about maternal mental health and gender-based violence.

In an effort to continue a long-standing mission of women’s empowerment, support, and celebration, MAMAbile was hosted by the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente – University of San Carlos (RACCF-USC, RID 3860) in close collaboration with Hon. Gerald Nitz Ponce and other officials of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Talamban. Originally scheduled for 2025 but postponed due to delays, MAMAbile emerged stronger than ever and was held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on March 13, 2026, at the rooftop of the Talamban Barangay Hall.
Dr. Emmanuel V. Hernani shared his knowledge on postpartum wellness and the importance of normalizing conversations about mental well-being among mothers. Also sharing insights on maternal health and women’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being were Anton Henry Miaga, RPm, and Edu Abao of Cebu Normal University.

Retired Police Chief Master Sergeant Myralona Informon Mahinay discussed women’s rights, focusing on legal protections and identifying abuse. As a retired police officer and a woman herself, PCMS Mahinay spoke extensively about what qualifies as gender-based violence and how to seek help through government resources and support systems. She encouraged women not to be afraid to speak up and stand up for their rights.

The women’s club members also participated in fun games that helped break the ice. These activities strengthened their bond and camaraderie.
MAMAbile concluded with a fellowship among RACCF-USC members, as the date coincidentally fell on the club’s charter anniversary. Transitioning from a lively educational event to a well-celebrated anniversary filled with smiles and laughter was truly a splendid way to end the day.
The event was ultimately successful and served as a reminder of why inclusive leadership is important in every community. Sometimes, the best way of showing love is teaching it.
