Where Service Feels Like Home for 25 Years

On the evening of October 11, 2025, the halls of Casa Segunda in Lucena City were filled not just with music and applause, but with embraces, shared memories, and quiet moments of gratitude. The Rotaract Club of Lucena South was celebrating its 25th Charter Anniversary—and for many in the room, it felt like coming home.

Charter members who once dreamed of building a service-driven youth organization stood beside new inductees about to begin their own journey. Alumni reconnected with former clubmates, recalling late-night project preparations, outreach activities under the sun, and meetings that turned into lifelong friendships. The phrase “Tatak Lucena South” was not just a slogan that evening, but a shared identity shaped by years of service, sacrifice, and solidarity.

The celebration opened vibrantly, with the LDNHS Sinlayag Dance Troupe leading the opening salvo and parade of dignitaries. Beyond the colorful performance was something deeper: the symbolism of movement—a club that has never stood still. As the invocation, national anthem, Rotary Hymn, and Four-Way Test followed, the room shifted into reflection.

When Immediate Past President Karen Jane Montero delivered her valedictory address, her words carried the weight of lived experience. She spoke not only of projects accomplished, but of lessons learned and bonds formed.

The most poignant moment came during the induction ceremony led by District Rotaract Representative Luis Santiago II P. Hidalgo. As President Luigi Oblena stepped forward to take his oath, there was a visible mix of pride and humility.

In his acceptance speech, Oblena expressed heartfelt gratitude to past presidents, advisers, and fellow Rotaractors who helped shape his journey. His message was simple yet powerful: the legacy of Lucena South is carried not by one leader, but by everyone who chooses to serve.

A message from Governor Helen Tan, delivered by Executive Secretary Romano Franco Talaga, affirmed the important role of youth leadership in community-building.

As the RACLS Dance Troupe closed the evening and President-Elect Patrick Norman Nadera delivered the final remarks, the celebration ended on a hopeful note.

For 25 years, the Rotaract Club of Lucena South has been more than an organization—it has been a training ground for leaders, a support system for young professionals, and a family bound by service.
