RACCF Launches Project SHIELD at SOS Children’s Village Cebu

The Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente- (RACCF) Community Based delivered hygiene kits to the kids of SOS Children’s Village Cebu as a part of Project S.H.I.E.L.D.: Sanitation and Health Initiative and Effective Levels of Disease Prevention on August 9, 2025.

The Club continues to work toward Rotary’s areas of focus by highlighting disease prevention and treatment, as well as water, sanitation, and hygiene in this project.

The Rotaractors did a return demonstration in front of the children.

The kits were prepared by the RACCF members led by Game-Changing Pres. Ella Agwapa. Each air-sealed kit contained items like bottles of rubbing alcohol, and oral hygiene items among others.

According to the organizers, clean hands are safe hands, and children need to learn to wash their hands to stay healthy. It can be a blessing for children to have everything they need for personal hygiene: soap, clean water, hand sanitizers, tooth brushes and toothpaste, when in reality, these are essential items to remain clean.

The children also did a return demonstration before they got their snacks and hygiene kits.

The initiative was a collaborative effort made possible through partnerships with RA Clubs Freeport Zone (Subic Bay), Club of Ibatan-Calbayog, Club of Lucena South, and Club of Tagbilaran. Representatives flew in from different islands across District 3860 and traveled through the city in the early morning.

On the same day of the Club’s 18th Induction Ceremony, members of different languages and walks of life brought smiles to children with the donations they prepared. The event even inspired a member of the Rotaract Club of Hong Kong to contribute his time and effort into the day.

The children had a game before the main event started.

In line with this year’s Rotary Theme “Unite for Good,” the Rotaractors held hand-washing demonstrations, games, and food distribution.

Project S.H.I.E.L.D. continues to endure along with the Club’s readiness to persevere despite the challenges it faces.
