Pride and hope filled the hearts of the Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod as one of our own stepped onto the national stage of youth leadership excellence.

During the Paeng Hechanova Youth Leadership Awards (PHYLA), our club proudly nominated Ms. Coleen Awit, Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Sagup Negros—a social enterprise rooted in compassion, sustainability, and service.
On January 30, 2026, Coleen’s tireless dedication and visionary leadership were recognized as she was awarded 2nd PHYLA – 1st Runner-Up. This remarkable achievement reflects not only her personal journey, but also the growing impact of youth-driven service across Rotary International District 3850.

Sagup Negros is a community-based initiative that addresses food waste while responding to hunger and disaster-related needs. Through food recovery efforts, volunteer mobilization, and sustainable practices, Sagup Negros transforms excess into hope—proving that leadership becomes most powerful when it uplifts others. Coleen’s work demonstrates how innovation, when paired with empathy, can create meaningful and lasting change.

This recognition is more than an award—it is a testament to what young leaders can accomplish when guided by purpose. As we witnessed Coleen reach this milestone, we celebrated not only her success, but the countless lives she continues to touch and the inspiration she brings to fellow Rotaractors across the Philippines.
The Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod is deeply grateful and immensely proud. Coleen’s victory is our shared victory—strengthening our belief in service, leadership, and the boundless potential of youth.
Padayon. Onward to even greater impact.
