Witnessing the scientia, virtus, and devotio of the Carolinian spirit in action, the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente – University of San Carlos held its 2nd General Membership Meeting last August 29, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Bunzel Building, USC Talamban Campus.
Through this gathering, members and aspirants were given the opportunity to deepen fellowship, strengthen club solidarity, and cultivate the value of service through interactive games, organizational updates, and inspirational insights from the program’s invited speaker. This collective commitment was encapsulated in the theme: “Embracing the Carolinian Spirit: Nurturing Values, Leadership, and Service through Organizational Engagement.”
The meeting commenced with the Rotary bell and gavel tradition, followed by an opening prayer, welcoming remarks, and a lively icebreaker to set an engaging tone for everyone present.
A warm welcome was given to the guest speaker, Ms. Mary Ann Lumacang, Director of the University of San Carlos’ Student Affairs and Services Office, who shared profound wisdom on fellowship, presence, and service. At the heart of her message was a call to begin transforming the world by first looking inward—to renew one’s commitment to serve with sincerity and intention.
She emphasized:
“Show up. It doesn’t matter where you go and what you already know. What matters is your presence for the people.”
Her powerful reminder resonated deeply with the members and aspiring volunteers, highlighting that true service begins with the simple yet impactful act of showing up—consistently, wholeheartedly, and with purpose. Genuine service, she stressed, is sustained through presence, discipline, and a commitment that moves communities forward.
The club also used this meeting to assign members to their respective committees, further strengthening fellowship and clarifying individual roles within the organization. This step fostered a deeper sense of accountability, purpose, and teamwork—essentials for a thriving and service-oriented Rotaract community.
As the 2nd General Membership Meeting drew to a close, members and aspirants left with renewed inspiration, ready to take their first steps as catalysts for change—turning presence into purpose, and purpose into meaningful action.
