In a dedicated display of community action and youthful leadership, the SK Poblacion of Candelaria, Quezon and the Rotaract Club of Candelaria Circle (RACCC) recently joined forces to host the transformative Dental Mission 2025. More than a simple outreach event, it became a testament to the idea that a single smile can inspire a movement. The event is conducted last August 21, 2025

The initiative was championed by sisters Alena M. Neameyer and Xela M. Neameyer, RN. As the Committee Head on Health for both SK Poblacion and RACCC, Alena was a driving force behind the planning and execution. She worked alongside her sister, Xela, who is the Charter President of RACCC. Their collaborative effort, guided by the support of SK Chair of Poblacion, Francois “Kikay” Rivera, and the Advocay-Driven President (ADP) of RACCC, Arwin Michael So, allowed the two organizations to reach a greater number of people. This powerful partnership solidified the mission’s success and showcased the true power of community collaboration.

For many residents, basic dental care is a significant challenge. The mission provided a welcome solution, offering free check-ups and extractions to address immediate oral health needs and educate participants on preventative care. The volunteer dentists and nurses also educated each of the service recipients on proper oral hygiene techniques, giving them the knowledge to maintain their dental health long after the event was over. It did not actually end on the free services given by the volunteer local dentists.

The SK Poblacion and RACCC also made ways to collaborate with other local organizations/institutions such as the Rotary Club of Candelaria Circle, Peter Paul Medical Center of Candelaria Inc., Dentaville Dental Solution, Quezon Gov. Dra. Helen Tan, Dr. Kim Tan, and the RHU Candelaria, who sponsored some of the event’s resources. These included the crucial medications like antibiotics, pain relievers, and antifibrinolytics. These medicines were carefully provided to each patient in dosages appropriate for all ages, which was vital for post-procedure care.

The Dental Mission 2025 was more than a day of service; it was a commitment to uplifting lives, one smile at a time. Held on August 21, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the Municipal Covered Court of Candelaria, the event was a powerful testament to the spirit of volunteerism. It would not have been possible without the tireless dedication of our volunteers: a team of 5 dentists, 6 dental students, 8 registered nurses, and 12 student nurses—who gave up their time, not for compensation, but for the simple exchange of a grateful smile.

These busy professionals and hardworking students proved that when young leaders and dedicated individuals from diverse fields #UniteForGood, they can create tangible, positive change, building a healthier and happier community for everyone. The success of this mission is a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together.
