Sparking the Magic of Rotary: DRR Mark Glen Baldo’s Inspirational Quest of Turning Passion into Action

By Hans Villamor | Posted on February 10, 2025

DRR Mark Glen G. Baldo’s journey with Rotaract began in 2013 during his college years, marking the start of an inspiring path of service and leadership. Two years after his term, he became President again as no one was willing to take the role. Since he became a Rotaractor, he has never been interested in attending district events since he is already content with what he is doing in his club and his community.

Last 2021, PP Mark Glen attended their District Conference Awards Night (DISCON) in Cebu and PDRR Griffins Malazarte inspired him to lead the district. That was when District 3860 was looking for a DRRND since PDRR Shevee and IPDRR Remuel were elected to DRRE and DRRN posts, respectively. It only took a year for PP Mark Glen to prepare but with the help of his friends in the District, PP Mark Glen won and officially became the DRRE during the Hope-Creating Rotary Year.

His commitment to community impact has been evident through multiple leadership roles, including two terms as club president, which ultimately led him to become the District Rotaract Representative (DRR) for District 3860.

Motivation and Leadership Philosophy

DRR Mark Glen was motivated to expand his impact beyond his local club, inspired by his previous district leaders like PDRR Griffins Malazarte, PDRR Shevee, and IPDRR Remuel. His leadership philosophy centers on empowerment, community service, and inspiring young leaders to create meaningful change. He believes Rotaractors are “ignitors, movers, and triggers” who can inspire broader community action.

Key District Priorities

During his term, DRR Mark Glen will focus on three primary objectives:

  • Membership Growth: Expanding the district’s Rotaract community
  • Rotary Foundation Donations: Supporting global humanitarian efforts
  • Public Image Enhancement: Increasing the district’s visibility and impact.

Signature Initiatives

DRR Mark Glen mentioned his most notable district-wide projects:

  • Comprehensive disaster risk reduction and management training
  • First aid skills development
  • Large-scale tree-growing initiatives

Leadership Approach

His leadership style emphasizes:

  • Building strong relationships with club presidents
  • Guiding, training, and mentorship
  • Maintaining flexibility and relatability across diverse clubs

Personal Growth and Vision

DRR Mark Glen views his role as a transformative experience, recognizing that leadership is about continuous learning, connection, and service. His advice to aspiring Rotaractors is simple yet profound: understand your passion, align it with the organization’s mission, and manage your time effectively.

The upcoming District Conference in Bohol represents a culmination of his vision—a celebration of the district’s achievements and a platform to recognize the incredible efforts of Rotaract members who serve selflessly.
