I picture the coming year as a renaissance tale. When we think of individuals in action, we think of rebirth. Doing something is not the same as thinking about doing something. Thoughts race through your brain’s network at breakneck speed, yet without the intention to act on them, they remain in your imagination. We frequently meet brilliant minds with incredible dreams, but we seldom find people with the desire to make these visions a reality. This is my ambition for the coming year and for Rotary in general.
Rotary has made a commitment to multiple projects that benefit various sectors in our community. It is with great honor that I be a member of such an institution, which has repeatedly demonstrated that mankind has always had promise. Much like the narrative of Renaissance, Rotary and Rotaract have crossed the gap between tribulations and triumphs.
True individuals in action, on the other hand, must always be aware of social reality. Rotary and Rotaract must be involved in a political revival that is not afraid of political debate. Because we opt not to engage in political conversations, all of our programs are aimed at resolving and easing specific socioeconomic conditions. However, these solutions remain transient and perennial. True people in action necessitates a more thorough view of reality. This allows us to identify issues at their origin and devise remedies that, ideally, will prevent them from recurring in the future. Rotary and Rotaract must participate in political struggles that affect the people they seek to serve. This is the kind of revolution that I want for us to join. A fight that not only create a shift in general thinking, but an avenue for a global political movement that will be of benefit not only to select sectors, but to all humanity.
