Editor’s Note (February)

By Elyrose S. Naorbe | Posted on March 8, 2022

For most of us, we consider February as the Month of Love. A celebration of genuine love and to our family, friends, and loved ones. But in Rotary and Rotaract World, this is the month of Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution.

Based on the latest data from Rotary.org, over 70 million people are displaced as a result of conflict, violence, persecution, and human rights violations. Half of them are children. Rotary projects provide training that fosters understanding and provides communities with the skills to resolve conflicts.

Rotaractors are very familiar with these pressing issues, especially those involving children. As we create environments of peace, we also want to promote humanitarian projects which can help sustain the peace and order in the community.

Many of the world’s pressing issues have a strong peacebuilding component. This includes pandemic, environmental threats, and political conflicts. While these challenges are complex, Rotaract Clubs are making innovative ways in order to help in any way possible.

Despite our own struggles in life, we also commit ourselves to a vision of building sustainable peace.

We need to be a catalyst of change that will lead our community towards a peaceful and happy life. Let’s help them understand each other and by doing so, we can ensure that these communities will have better ways of understanding, communicating and relationship.
