The Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente-Community Based organized an emergency relief operation in partnership with the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers – Council of Student Chapters for the victims of Typhoon Odette (Rai) which struck Cebu on the eve of December 16, 2021. The disaster has affected thousands of Cebuanos, leaving most of them homeless with no access to basic necessities after the devastation left by Odette.
The project Tindog Sugbuanon has collected a total of 98,641.85 PHP in cash from generous donors all over the world. For the first wave on December 30, 2021, the club visited Barangays Poblacion and Tangke in Talisay City which were ravaged by a fire right after the typhoon. Odette spared them, but the flames consumed their homes. 100 families were able to receive relief goods.
The club also coordinated with the 53rd Engineer Brigade Philippine Army last January 2, 2022, in the packing of 1803 packs of relief goods to be given to victims and survivors of Odette.
The second wave of relief operations was in Ocana, Carcar City, which was one of the municipalities in Cebu that was greatly affected by Odette as it was where it made landfall. Another 100 families were able to receive relief goods.
As many Cebuanos are still struggling to get access to basic necessities like food and water, the club continues to request donations in order to help more families across Cebu.
